CPM: Pilot Validation Study FAQs

 FAQs

  • Will the pilot measures be available online for the 2025–26 school year?

Yes, current pilot measures will be available online for the 2025–26 school year. However, since they are not yet validated, these measures will not have benchmarks and should not be used for any state-mandated reporting.

  • Will the current measures still be available alongside the pilot measures?

Yes. During the 2025–26 school year, teachers should administer the current, validated measures.

  • When will the new measures be available on CLI Engage?

Following the completion of the validation study, the updated measures are expected to launch on CLI Engage beginning the 2026–27 school year.

  • Will the validation study include English and Spanish measures?

Yes, we plan to validate updated measures for Phonological Awareness, Math, and Rapid Vocabulary in both English and Spanish that would replace the existing measures on CLI Engage. Pending positive results from the study, the new measures will be available for the 2026-27 school year.

  • How can I participate in the validation study?

We are currently contacting participants from pre-K and kindergarten classrooms.

Please complete this form to indicate your interest: Join the Validity Study

  • Does the entire district need to participate in the validation study?

No, participation would not need to include all sites or classrooms in your district. District leaders can select only a few sites or classrooms to participate in the study.

  • What is required of teachers who participate in the validation study?

Participating teachers will either complete the CPM assessments with their students as usual, and/or allow trained research assistants to administer brief, additional assessments to students. We expect to offer some classroom materials to participating teachers in acknowledgment of their participation in the study.

  • How can I provide feedback about pre-K CPM?

We value your feedback and insights to help improve our progress monitoring tools.
