Based on data analysis, the Spanish decoding subtest, decodificación, is also a requirement for the KPM dyslexia screener to identify Spanish language students that may be at risk for reading difficulties.
Spanish is a phonetic language, it is usually pronounced the way it’s written. The letters represent a particular sound and are pronounced consistently.
When Spanish speaking students are administered decoding, it can indicate which students may be at risk for reading difficulties due to the lack of being able to recognize and apply letter-sound knowledge and patterns.
