How do I Add/Drop a Student Using Class Roster Management For An Existing Class?

Use these steps to add or inactivate a small number of students on a teacher’s class roster. To add or update many students, or to create several class rosters at one time, use the Student Template (BUP) or the Single Roster Upload Template.

Prerequisites

Sign in to CLI Engage.
In the Administrative Tools section of CLI Engage, make sure you can see Class & Student Management. If you do not see this option, submit a help ticket.
Make sure your account is assigned to the school that has the class you want to edit.
Make sure the class roster you want to edit already exists in CLI Engage.
If you are a teacher, make sure your account is assigned to the class.

Instructions

Add a student to a class roster

  1. From the CLI Engage dashboard, find the turquoise Administrative Tools banner.

  2. Select Class & Student Management.

  3. On the left side of the page, select Class Roster Management.

  4. Enter the Community and School. Then select the Class from the drop-down menu and select Search.

  5. When the class appears, select the + icon to add a student.

  6. Enter the student information. Fields marked with an asterisk (*) are required.

    • Student first name and last name. Middle name is optional.

    • Date of birth.

    • Gender.

    • Student Internal ID, if available.

    • State Unique ID, if available. This is the TSDS ID assigned by TEA for ECDS submission. You can add it later.

    • Grade level. Select it from the drop-down menu.

    • Assessment language. Select English, Spanish, or English and Spanish from the drop-down menu.

    • Enrollment date, if available.

    • Withdrawal date, if available.

    • Status. Keep the status set to Active so the student appears on the assessment roster.

    • Preferred report language, if available.

  7. After you enter the information, scroll down and select Submit to save your changes.

Inactivate a student on a class roster

  1. From the CLI Engage dashboard, find the turquoise Administrative Tools banner.

  2. Select Class & Student Management.

  3. On the left side of the page, select Class Roster Management.

  4. Enter the Community and School. Then select the Class from the drop-down menu and select Search.

  5. Find the student in the Student list.

  6. In the student’s row, change the Status from Active to Inactive.

  7. Select Submit to save your changes.

Note: Inactive students stay in the system, but they do not appear in assessments.
