TPRI: Do I assess the same measures again at the next wave if the student scored "developed" for a measure at previous wave?

TPRI: Do I assess the same measures again at the next wave if the student scored "developed" for a measure at previous wave?

Answer

No. For Texas Primary Reading Inventory administration, please review the branching rules to decide where to begin assessing individual students at their next assessment wave.

For example for 1st Grade TPRI:
According to the development of 1st Grade TPRI and the Branching Rules, the PA and GK portions of the inventory include skills that students may have mastered. If a student demonstrates mastery on a task then a score of D is given. So, any PA or GK task where the student scored D does not have to be given again. The next step would be to jump-in with WR-1 Word Reading and follow the Branching Rules from there.

However, if you are using TPRI for dyslexia screening, then SCR-2 Word Reading and SCR-3 Blending Phonemes are required for the dyslexia screening (regardless of what the Branching Rules state).
