Why Do I Have Students on the ID File for the Ed-Fi Submission?

Problem

The purple ID file is a file that shows students with duplicate, missing or invalid TSDS ID. If a student is on the ID file, this also means that student has assessment scores in CLI Engage. This ID file can be used on the Student BUP page to update student records as needed.

Here are some reasons why you see students listed on the ID file:

  • Missing the TSDS ID in CLI Engage

  • Duplicate TSDS ID used (More than one student has the same TSDS ID in CLI Engage)

  • TSDS ID is not a 10 digit number

  • TSDS ID has more than 10 or less than 10 digits

  • TSDS ID has letters or special characters

  • TSDS ID has too many digits (TSDS ID should be 10 digits)

  • Extra space in front of or behind the TSDS ID

Solution

  1. Missing the TSDS ID in CLI Engage - Add the Student’s TSDS IDs to the student’s profile manually using Student Management or Class Roster Management. If you have many students missing TSDS IDs, use the ID file to add the TSDS IDs.

  2. Duplicate TSDS ID used (More than one student has the same TSDS ID in CLI Engage) - the ID file while show you if the TSDS IDs are duplicated. Confirm that the correct TSDS ID and edit it in CLI Engage using Student Management.

  3. TSDS ID is not a 10 digit number - Check that the TSDS ID is 10 digit number

  4. TSDS ID has more than 10 or less than 10 digits - Correct any TSDS IDs that have less or more than 10 digits

  5. TSDS ID has letters or special characters - Remove any letters or special characters from the TSDS ID

  6. Has too many digits (TSDS ID should be 10 digits) - Correct any TSDS IDs that have more than 10 digits

  7. Extra space in front of or behind the TSDS ID - Remove any extra spaces in the TSDS ID cell/field

To update the TSDS IDs for many students:

You can utilize the ID file that is in the Ed-Fi ODS Setting section of your community management page to upload the TSDS IDs for each student. Add the IDs to column P titled Student_State_Unique_ID. Save the ID file and then, upload the file by navigating to Central Roster Management and clicking on Student.

This ID file can be used on the Student BUP page to update student records.

To update the TSDS IDs for a few students:

Manually update or add the student's TSDS IDs to their profile using either Student Management or Class Roster Management.

How do I use Class Roster Management to manually update the class roster?
