FAQ: Family Engagement Survey Tool

 Frequently Asked Questions:

1. Who can create a survey link?

   1. Users with administrator access can create a survey link on Engage.

2. What age group is this survey best suited for?

   1. This survey is best suited for families and caregivers of children in early childhood education settings. Families with children aged 3-5 years old.

3. Will the survey collect any participant data?

   1. No, all surveys are anonymous. The surveys will not ask participants to provide any identifying information (e.g., caregiver name, child name, school, teacher name, etc.).

4. How long is the survey?

   1. The survey is 45 questions long. It takes about 10-15 minutes to complete.

5. Is the survey bilingual?

   1. Yes, families can select to complete the survey in English or Spanish.

6. What kind of topics does the survey cover?

   1. Families will complete a survey and provide responses across four measurable constructs:

      1. Partnering with Families & Positive Communication,

      2. Two-Way Conversations to Individualize Student Support,

      3. Learning at Home & Responsiveness, and

      4. Community, Events & Belonging.

   2. The questions include Likert scales (Strongly agree/Strongly disagree or Very Satisfied/Very Unsatisfied), multiselect questions covering family preferences and priorities, and open-ended questions for parents to respond in a text box.

7. Can I see a copy of the survey questions?

   1. The technical manual is currently in production and will contain a copy of the survey items. In the meantime, please submit a Help Desk ticket if you would like to see the items.

8. Can I see survey data by campus/center?

   1. No, at this stage, the survey only provides aggregate community-level data. Data is collected per link and is not divided by campus/center.

9. Will the URL change if I edit the survey window?

   1. No, the URL remains the same for the entire survey window, even if you change the dates.

10. Will parents be able to open the link after the survey window?

    1. No, the link will become inactive after the survey window.

11. If parents open the survey, but don’t submit, will that impact the response count?

    1. No, only submitted responses will impact the count.

12. If parents skip questions, will that impact the analysis?

    1. No, analysis accounts for missing data and analyzes accordingly.

13. What time does the survey close on the last day?

    1. The survey closes at 11:59 p.m. on the end date.

14. What if I want to close the survey earlier?

    1. To close the survey earlier, change the start and end dates to a date in the past. For example, if the original survey window was 4/23-4/23, but we need to close it early because we want our data now, we will change it to 4/22-4/22 and the survey will close.

15. Will closing the survey earlier result in any lost responses?

    1. No, changing the dates will not affect the survey responses that have already been submitted.
