CIRCLE CDA Training Program - Courses & Workbooks - September 2023 to Present

If a user reports the following: I have enrolled in the CDA courses and ordered my workbooks. The workbooks I received are the 2023 edition and the workbook on the CLI Engage site is the 2017 edition. Will CLI Engage update the CDA courses with the 2023 edition workbook soon? It was the only edition available to order.

The reply is: Congratulations on working toward a nationally recognized Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential™ administered by the Council for Professional Recognition. The CDA online courses available on CLI Engage were created with the previous workbook edition, so the page numbers referenced in the course are not aligned with the 2023 edition of CDA materials, but you can find the corresponding content by matching the Functional Area chapters and section headings that correlate with the content.  We apologize for the inconvenience and want to reassure you that the course content does correspond with the 2023 materials and will provide training hours that will count towards the 120 professional development hours required to apply for a CDA Credential™ for Center-Based Programs (infant-toddler and preschool) and Family Child Care settings. The CIRCLE CDA Training Program courses are on the project list to be updated.

The Circle CDA Training Program references three CDA books that are sold on the Council for Professional Recognition website in their online store. The books are age/setting specific and are available in either English or Spanish. 

  1. CDA® Competency Standards Book (select the specific book for the observation setting: Infant-Toddler, Preschool, Family Child Care)

  2. Essentials for Working with Young Children textbook (the same book for these settings: Infant-Toddler, Preschool, Family Child Care)
