FAQ: Can I translate the instructions from English to Spanish, but still assess a student's English skills?
Or translate instructions from Spanish to English, but still assess a student's Spanish skills?
Answer
The CLI Engage assessments/ progress monitoring tools were created to be given in either English or Spanish. It is important to ensure that each assessment is conducted in the language specified on the assessment. It is strongly recommended not to translate the prompts or instructions for students, as doing so may invalidate the data collected and compromise the fidelity of the tool. It is best to use the assessment as intended and administer it in either English or Spanish, as it is not meant to be used as a bilingual tool.
