How Do I Access the Circle KPM Toolkit? (Previously known as TX KEA)
Welcome to the Circle KPM (previously known as TX-KEA) Toolkit!
Please note, beginning in Fall 2025, KPM will be known as Circle Kindergarten Progress Monitoring.
This online toolkit is a “one stop shop” to locate a variety of materials and resources, each tailored to support the understanding and implementation of KPM. This section offers content related to exploring the purpose, design, and research behind KPM.
KPM provides teachers and specialists with a comprehensive understanding of students’ learning, enabling them to design differentiated instruction to better meet students’ unique needs and share information with families.
KPM provides multiple implementation options to school districts and charter schools in English and Spanish. The KPM User Guide provides information for these implementation options:
Three-wave progress monitoring tool (BOY, MOY, EOY)
Kindergarten Entry Assessment (BOY)
One-time literacy screener (BOY)
Dyslexia Screener (EOY)
Overview of the Circle Kindergarten Progress Monitoring (KPM)
Let’s take a look at the history KPM. This evolution reflects our commitment to continuous improvement and alignment with research and state needs.
In 2014, TEA received a grant to develop a kindergarten entry assessment. CLI partnered to create and validate the tool.
By 2017, TX-KEA was launched and approved as a one-time entry assessment.
Between 2017–2019, it expanded to include BOY, MOY, and EOY administrations.
In 2020, composite scores were added to support literacy and dyslexia screening.
Looking ahead to 2025–26, the tool will be reintroduced as Circle KPM, with updated measures undergoing validation.
