The yes/no format for the Rhyming measure has been a topic of debate for years. The main reason for this format is the floor effect observed in the Rhyme Production task, where many children received scores of zero, making the measure less useful, especially at the beginning of the year (BOY). The Rhyme Identification tasks (yes/no) did not exhibit such severe floor effects and, despite the “guess factor,” were just as highly correlated with outcome measures as the Rhyme Production measure. Therefore, we opted for the Yes/No version as it is somewhat easier for children.
