How do I access the Assessment Practice Area?
The Assessment Practice Area is a tool on CLI Engage for teachers to practice child assessments and reports.

Before you begin, make sure you are on the CLI Engage dashboard.
On the CLI Engage dashboard, go to the red banner labeled Screening, Progress Monitoring, and Observation.
Select Assessment Practice Area.
On the next screen, select the assessment you want to view. For example, select CIRCLE Progress Monitoring PreK.
Review the class of demo and practice students. On CLI Engage, this page is called the Class View. You will see a similar page in the Assessment section, where your class rosters appear.
Use the Assessment Practice Area to practice assessments in English and Spanish, run sample reports, and use the small grouping tool. You can also review assessments for all three waves: Wave 1, beginning of year; Wave 2, middle of year; and Wave 3, end of year.
Use the five Practice children to practice starting, moving through, and completing assessments. Practice children do not have saved mock data.
Use the ten Demo children to review sample scores in Class View and run sample reports. Demo children have saved mock data.
On the left side of the screen, review the legend. The legend explains the colors used for child scores based on benchmarks.
To practice launching a measure, select the Play button next to a practice child’s name. This opens the child’s folder.
Select the Play/Launch button under a measure to review the items in that measure.
To practice excluding a measure for one practice child, select the Exclude button next to the Play/Launch button. You can also select Exclude All to exclude all measures for that child.
Select Reports to practice running Class Completion, Class Summary, Class Growth, and Student Reports. You can use the same report options that are available in the live assessment area.
Select View Groups to review the small groups for demo children. CLI Engage automatically groups children who are below the benchmark for any assessment.
Practice creating a custom group, such as a group for high-achieving children.
To practice an assessment in another language, select the alternate language button: Click to Assess in English or Click to Assess in Spanish.
To remove data for practice children, select Reset Class. This is helpful if you want to practice the assessments more than once during the school year. Reset Class does not remove data for demo children.
To practice using offline assessments, select Offline Assessment.
You can return to the Assessment Practice Area at any time during the school year. For assessments with multiple waves, use the Wave dropdown to select a different wave.
When you are ready to assess the children in your classes, return to the CLI Engage dashboard. Under the Screening, Progress Monitoring, and Observation banner, select the assessment name.
